[ Summary ] Continuous Professional Development (CPD) of Dialysis staff members is a key to sustaining and advancing dialysis programs, and is the responsibility of individual dialysis staff members and dialysis centers. Effective CPD improves health outcomes and patient satisfaction. It also improves employee satisfaction and leads to the financial stability of dialysis centers. The areas covered by CPD include knowledge and skills related to teamwork, patient safety and dialysis related knowledge, including techniques. Various delivery methods may be used for CPD. These include didactic lectures given inside or outside of the workplace, group learning, on the job training and self education. To improve the effectiveness of CPD curriculum development evaluation, and research on CPD is necessary.
