[ Summary ] According to statistics from the Japanese Society for Dialysis Therapy, cerebrovascular disease was the fourth highest cause of death (7.5 %) for dialysis patients in 2012 after heart disease (27.2 %), infectious disease (20.3 %) and cancer (9.1 %). Various cerebrovascular diseases are often observed clinically in dialysis patients and include symptomatic stroke events and asymptomatic cerebrovascular diseases.
