[ Summary ] The new JSDT guidelines indicated management techniques for bone metabolism in chapter 5 and amyloidosis-related osteopathy in chapter 6. The primary goal of these two chapters is to determine characteristics of bone fragility fractures and to prevent these conditions. Even though possible treatments are outlined in chapter 5 they are not aggressive enough since the role of CKD-MBD in bone strength remains obscure. Treatment options in chapter 6 are rather practical. Attempts to prevent fragility fractures are important for CKD patients regardless of the pathophysiological entity responsible for CKD-MBD.
