[ Summary ] The Great East Japan Earthquake, occurred on 11 March 2011. It significantly affected dialysis therapy in East Japan, due to the tsunami, nuclear meltdowns at Fukushima I Nuclear Power Plant, massive electrical blackouts and other incidents. The Japanese Association of Dialysis Physicians (JADP) established headquarters for disaster relief immediately and gathered information about the disaster areas. The JADP suggested measures to receive dialysis patients in disaster areas. It also coordinated and supported the transfer of victims. Information sharing is important for conducting disaster relief initiatives. The JADP disaster information network played a considerable role in disaster relief at this time. We would like to improve this system to provide more useful tools for information sharing.
