| [ Summary ] | Differences between the classification of diabetic nephropathy and the staging of chronic kidney disease (CKD) are due to differences in the primary methods of evaluation. The former essentially employs the degree of albuminuria and the latter is classified only by estimated GFR (eGFR). Because albuminuria and glomerular filtration rate (GFR) are different paramaters, we must evaluate both in relation to treatment of diabetic nephropathy. | |
