[ Summary ] Fluid management is the most important goal-directed therapy for peritoneal dialysis patients. Therefore, it is essential to manage the balance of sodium input and output, including an understanding strict salt intake levels before the initiation of dialysis. Through proper control, fluid management may be facilitated. The balance of sodium input and output will differ greatly depending on the dialysate used and the peritoneal dialysis therapy system employed. For that reason, we should frequently confirm sodium levels whenever dialysis therapy systems are changed. It is important to continue education concerning the need for dietary salt management.
