[ Summary ] The progressive aging of the dialysis population has lead to various medical and social problems. Elderly dialysis patients may easily become malnourished because their physical and cognitive abilities may deteriorate. Nutritional problems may worsen if patients live alone or live only with other elderly persons.
We must carefully exchange information about these patients so various medical staff members may maintain and improve the nutritional condition of these elderly dialysis patients. We must also care for them not only by employing flexible nutritional guidelines but also in terms of their nutritional and social conditions which can be evaluated by medical staff members. Repeated dietary assessment and interventions are essential for taking care of elderly dialysis patients.
