[ Summary ] We review the essential factors for developing ideal medical teams from the standpoint of social science. Medical teams are composed of structures developed in relation to the autonomy of their profession. These structures may cause conflicts within medical teams. Thus, it is important that medical team members share the team policy with each other and develop a culture through which they can develop partnerships. Medical staffs must understand the processes of conflict management and acquire the skills to solve conflicts inside medical teams.
The importance of team approachs to self-realization and quality of life for not only patients but also medical staffs are discussed.
