[ Summary ] |
It is widely recognized that uremic toxins are accumulated and therefore cause various uremic symptoms in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD). Recently, a great deal of evidence has suggested that indoxyl sulfate (IS), advanced glycation end products (AGEs) and asymmetric dimethylarginine (ADMA) accumulate in CKD patients and play important roles in the development of cardiovascular disease and renal injury. Consequently, we will discuss the roles of these molecules in cardiovascular disease and renal injury in relation to CKD patients. |
