[ Summary ] Methods to care for patients with dementia differ in relation to the causal circumstances of the condition. Accurate differential diagnosis of dementia is a major key to dementia care. Diagnosis of dementia alone is insufficient to develop care plans for individuals with dementia. Dementia symptoms are influenced by the environment, including medical care, psychological factors, physical complications, life history, etc. Professional dementia care must support the dignity of dementia patients illustrating his/her needs through appropriate assessment of their overall condition.
