[ Summary ] On-line HDF in Japan is divided into two characteristics. One is CDDS (central dialysis fluid delivery systems) and the second is pre dilution HDF systems. With CDDS, the contamination of dialysis fluids influences many dialysis mechanisms. Hence, the purification of dialysis fluids is very important for proper CDDS treatment.
For adequate purification of dialysis fluids in CDDS, implementation of RO (reverse osmosis) and ETRF (endotoxin retentive filter) systems with large surface areas is essential. Additionally, validating purification of dialysis fluids when employing CDDS through periodic examination of the purity dialysis fluid samples from sampling ports is essential also.
Dialysis mechanisms for on-line HDF must have a series of two ETRF and infusion pump systems with infusion ability of more than 18 l/hour.
