| [ Summary ] | The number of elderly patients receiving dialysis is growing. Furthermore, the number of patients with lung cancer has also increased. In the future, further increases in the number of patients with lung cancer is predicted. Respiratory illness has an influence on the survival rate of dialysis patients. Generally, we perform inspections employing biomicroscopy and breathing functions. However, radiation exposure, invasiveness and plasticity present some problems in performing examinations. On the other hand, we can measure biomarkers in peripheral blood by simply drawing blood. This enables us to obtain objective data. This type of inspection is easy to carry out, not for only specialists but also for general clinicians. However, it is necessary to reserve judgement on results obtained, because dialysis patients are influenced by a wide array of factors. | |
