[ Summary ] The peritoneal equilibration test (PET) is used as a general tool for evaluation of peritoneal function in PD patients. Recently, mini-PET and double mini-PET which can be used to evaluate free water transportation and osmotic conductance of glucose based on three pore modeling have been devised. Furthermore, certain biomarkers observed in PD fluids, such as CA125, VEGF, IL-6, hyaluronic acid, and MMP-2 have been reported to be useful indicators for predicting peritoneal deterioration. In this report, we provide an outline of recently obtained knowledge related to this subject.
