[ Summary ] |
Double filtration plasmapheresis (DFPP) is applied to the type C hepatitis for the removal of virus from the circulat. The method of DFPP for HCV removal is simpler than DFPP for other purposes such as autoantibody removal. Sustained reduction of viral levels for at least 14 days has been confirmed after five DFPP sessions. However, this method should be considered supportive to conventional interferon and ribavirin therapies. The long term effects of combined therapy require further study. |
