[ Summary ] | Elderly persons often require nursing care or support because of age related conditions and chronic illnesses. Dialysis patients experience large physical, mental and financial burdens. The falling birth rate and aging of the population have lead to more elderly households and numbers of patients who live alone. Therefore, it is important for the health care industry to take advantage of families who have members who are elderly dialysis patients in order to reduce not only the burden or nursing care facilities but also to reduce anxiety and stress. The health care industry has an important role in supporting caregivers to reduce these burdens. The health care industry must also suggest measures to make families of patients aware of their roles in providing patient care. |
