[ Summary ] The primary, long range goal of dialysis facilities is to provide high quality medical care. However, factors which impact patient care, such as prolonged treatment, age related issues, changes in the public health care system, personal finances and changing societal norms, affect patient care. As a result of these problems, it is difficult for any one hospital to care for all types of and quantities of patients. A medical system must be developed to help medical facilities work within national health care guidelines, improve patient QOL and provide high quality outpatient services, while fully utilizing the resources of the national health care system. A system of cooperation between all health care professionals is vital to maintain and improve ongoing levels of patient care.
