[ Summary ] It is important to obtain similar clinical values when we evaluate the performance of dialyzers in vitro in relation to clinical results. Therefore, standard evaluation methods are illustrated in the outline ; "A functional classification and the performance evaluation method of dialyzer" which is a tool implementing bovine blood. However, actual results vary with the blood condition or measurement method. Measurement of ultrafiltration coefficients for several kinds of new dialyzers with highly permeable membranes requires special consideration for range of pressure or colloid oncotic pressure. These points have been discussed and have suggested improvements in standardization methods made by the dialysis technology subcommittee of the Japan Medical Devices Manufacturers Association.
