Title Present situation and problems associated with home hemodialysis

[ Summary ] The number of patients who undergo home hemodialysis(HHD)remains low, and a lack of understanding not only among patients, but also among medical professionals poses a barrier to the use of this therapy. In recent years, frequent dialysis and long-term dialysis have been highly assessed, and therefore, HHD, which enables such treatments, should be reconsidered. Based on characteristics such as improved QOL, improvements in data utilization and reduced complications, as well as the satisfaction of staff members involved in providing this treatment, HHD is recognized as the optimal dialysis treatment. It is hoped that more institutions will participate in providing HHD by overcoming individual economic burdens, issues related to medical skills, such as puncturing, and issues related to National Health Insurance criteria.
