| [ Summary ] | CKD-MBD is a newly developed clinical concept which emphasizes a strong connection between the disruption of bone and mineral metabolism during the course of CKD progression, diminishing patients' overall prognoses. Many previous studies, focusing on calcium and phosphorus or vitamin D metabolism, have indicated that poor clinical outcomes have often resulted from poor control of mineral metabolism. However, many of those studies are observational, therefore, randomized controlled trials are necessary. Japanese guideline for the treatment of secondary hyperparathyroidism in dialyzed patients have primarily centered on improving patient outcomes through appropriate management. We summarize the evidence which will help us prepare the revisions of our guideline. | |
