[ Summary ] | Venous hypertension (VH) occurring in conjunction with stenosis of central veins has become common in recent years. The most characteristic symptom of VH isedema or swelling in the arms, due to arteriovenous fistula. The site of stenosis in central veins is usuallythe subclavian vein proper, as well as at the junction of the cephalic vein and the subclavian vein. Interventional therapy such as balloon angioplasty or stent placement is effective in the treatment of VH. However, if interventional therapy is repeatedsoon, surgical technics such as graft bypasses or closing of arteriovenous fistula is necessary. |
