[ Summary ] It is necessary to monitor both the form and function of VA (vascular access) in maintenance management. A convenient monitoring systemmust be chosen in a logical fashion and then it must be regularly reviewed. It is not necessary to employ advanced medical equipment or techniques. However, it is important to advance themonitor with the equipment gradually. PTA(percutaneous transluminal angioplasty)provides amode of treatment early on when VA related circulation complications arise. Therefore, early detection of complications with angiography is important. Long term VA patency rates may be achieved through the employment of VA trouble scores.
