[ Summary ] The KAB Model is the most popular patient educational theory. This model explains the relationship between knowledge and behavior. According to the model, individuals are given health related knowledge(K;knowledge)by their nurse or doctor. At that time, their attitude (A;Attitude) changes from being unhealthy to being healthy. Then their behavior(B;Behavior)changes from being unhealthy to being healthy. However, the model has one basic problem in that many people do not change their behavior.
As this time, many theories and models are used by nurses. Example, Modeling, Self-Efficacy, Coaching the Health Belief Model, Prochaska's Transtheoretical Model composed of the Stages ofChange & Processes of Change, use of the Empowerment Model, Coaching and Andragogy.
What is the evaluation index for patient education? The index of evaluations measures changes in emotions, levels of recognition, and behavior of individuals.
