| [ Summary ] | Urinary tract infections (UTI) are the most common bacterial infections in dialysis patients. UTIs can be subdivided into two anatomic categories lower tract infections (urethritis and cystitis) and upper tract infections (pyelonephritis, renal abscesses and perinephric abscesses). UTIs (especially upper tract infections) become more severe in dialysis patients. Upper tract infections, such as pyelonephritis, renal abscess, perinephric abscess and cystic polycistic kidney disease (PKD) infections are reviewed in this article. | |
