[ Summary ] | According to the guidelines for sleep apnea syndrome (SAS) diagnosis and treatment of adults, polysomnography (PSG) must be done for diagnosis of sleep disordered breathing (SDB) in patients, such as those undergoing dialysis, and having severe cardiovascular complications. PSG often reveals SDB in dialysis patients, even those with no subjective symptoms. Therefore, screening for SDB with the questionnaires is difficult when dealing with dialysis patients who display few subjective symptoms. It is necessary to screen for SDB with portable monitoring devices and pulse oximeters after the performance and limits of equipment is adequately understood. |
