[ Summary ] The field of antibiotic chemotherapy in Japan developed in line with advances in medical devices.
However, some problems have arisen with this treatment, including increases in the number of antibiotic-resistant bacteria. The Japanese Respiratory Society published their “Guideline for Management of Community-Acquired Pneumonia in Adults”, concerning proper use of antibiotics. This guideline provided instructions on how to use new rapid diagnosis kits, as well as fluoroquinolones, and illustrated the importance of vaccinations. Use of this guideline should be fully implemented.
