[ Summary ] | The major significance of home hemodialysis is that it can reduce complications associated with long-term dialysis through self-management of diet and dialysis may be adjusted to the individual's life-style. One of the factors limiting the popularization of home hemodialysis is the difficulties associated with disposing of dialysis waste. Presently, home dialysis waste is collected as non-industrial waste, under municipal regulations. However, most patients having home hemodialyis carry waste, including dialyzers and bloodlines to clinics after use, which is an infective means of disposal. A problem in the future will be how to find a way to more effectively dispose of this waste. |
