[ Summary ] Hepatitis B virus (HBV) and / or hepatitis C virus (HCV) infections have an influence on the prognosis of chronic dialysis patients. Therefore, the prevention of and therapy for these infections are both very important. However, those patients receiving dialysis have many problems, such as (1) optimal screening regimens are unclear, (2) disease activity is hard to evaluate, (3) treatment for chronic hepatitis has not been standardized, (4) inoculation rates for HB vaccines are low. With the increase in the number of long term dialysis patients, it is thought that HBV and / or HCV infection will become a more important problem in the future. Because of this, more positive correspondence is demanded. In addition, it is hoped that screening methods and a cure for HBV and HCV infections in dialysis patients may be established through the accumulation of data.
