[ Summary ] Peritoneal dialysis (PD) has become the standard therapeutic modality for patients with end stage renal failure. However, its utilization varies widely from country to country. This variation is due mainly not to medical issues but socio-economic situations, national health infrastructures, and depth of knowledge of PD. In this article the current status of PD on five continents and in specific countries is introduced including academic contributions to world-PD community.
