[ Summary ] Recently, the concept of integrated renal replacement therapy has been accepted in Japan from the point of efficacy, convenience of the treatments. This has facilitated development of new PD modalities such as incremental PD and PD + HD combination therapy. The practice of incremental PD aims to prescribe PD bags to achieve targeted dialysis dose, according to the levels of preserved residual renal function (RRF). Conversely, combination therapy aims to increase dialysis doses through single hemodialysis session, in cases with decreased RRF. It is supposed that both modalities are widely used in Japanese clinical setting. However, precise data is lacking. Nationwide survey is warranted to feedback clinical data to clinicians.
