[ Summary ] Cardiovascular disease is one of the complications which has great impact on prognoses and quality of life for dialysis patients. Previous guidelines for clinical practice for dialysis patients have focused only on renal anemia, secondary hyperparathyroidism, optimal dialysis conditions and vascular access. In relation to cardiovascular disease, the guidelines were the same for dialysis and non-dialysis patients. In 2005, the K/DOQI published guidelines for cardiovascular diseases in dialysis patients for the first time. It described the similarities and differences between dialysis and non-dialysis patients. In this article, an outline of the guidelines for treatment of cardiovascular diseases in dialysis patients such as coronary artery disease, valvular heart disease and peripheral vascular disease is described.
