| [ Summary ] | Clinical guidelines will be produced, based on "evidence-based medicine". Four guidelines produced by the JSDT have been characterized as being consensus-based or Japanese evidence-based. New policies concerning clinical decisions will be based on these guidelines. The purpose of guidelines to improve health related outcomes should be emphasised. The role of medical economics must also be considered. One difficulty with guideline production is a lack of randomized controlled trials. We utilized evidence from a group with normal kidney functions to establish guidelines. The effects of guidelines on clinical practice should be considered when revising them. |
