[ Summary ] Due to the increasingly rapid aging of our society, the diversification of societal needs, and the sophistication and specialization of healthcare, there is currently a significant need for more qualified nurses. Accordingly, the evaluation and development of nursing ability are issues of growing concern. It is important to focus on skill evaluation as a process for absolute evaluation of developing ability, as skill evaluation and personnel evaluation are integral to human resource development. Although personnel evaluation systems that actively involve continuing education for nurses are available, in reality, few facilities have implemented these systems. In addition, the most important factor in formulating a career development program that emphasizes the clinical practice of nurses is the evaluation of clinical practice skills. Therefore, issues in developing the ability of nurses involved in renal failure care include implementation of a career development ladder for evaluation of clinical practice skills and its application to skill development and personnel mamagement, in addition to its function as a total personnel system for human resource development.
