[ Summary ] | According to the WHO (World Health Organization) 's evaluation which was published in year 2000, France has the best health care system among its 191 member-countries (USA was the 37th and Japan was the 10th in this same evaluation). French public health insurance (social security finance based) covers quasi 100 % of population and the Renal Failure (RF) is considered as “non-co-payement charged chronic disease”. The patient does not pay any medical fees related with his / her RF. 69 % of patients are treated by hemodialysis and 28 % are treated by self-caring hemodialysis. CAPD is rarely recommended. The number of renal transplant has been 2,253 patients in 2002, 2,127 in 2003, 2,423 in 2004 and 2,572 in 2005. |
