[ Summary ] Encapsulating peritoneal sclerosis (EPS) is one of the most severe complications related to peritoneal dialysis therapy. Because its pathophysiology consists mainly of inflammation and obstructive ileus, nutritional status should be improved by any method possible. Supplemental administration of proteins, amino acids, and lipids may make it possible to improve hypoalbunemia, and support the general nutritional status of patients receiving dialysis therapy. After the onset of obstructive ileus, oral intake should be prohibited. Home intravenous hyper alimentation is necessary to maintain nutritional status without oral intake over long periods.
