[ Summary ] Expertise bedside care techniques is required for nursing patients with diabetic renal failure during hemodialysis. Major nursing points are summarized, such as treating blood pressure instability, ischemic changes in circulation, especially in extreme conditions, intensive observation of blood sugar levels and visual disturbances that potentially occur due to rapid alteration of plasma osmolality, as well as anticoagulant use during dialysis procedures. Moreover, a general knowledge of nursing techniques for management of diabetes mellitus should be provided to nurses involved in maintenance dialysis of patients with diabetic renal failure.
In this review a typical case is demonstrated to help provide understanding of troublesome complications which often occur in diabetic renal failure patients.
