[ Summary ] Peritoneal dialysis (PD) dose has been evaluated by Kt / v for urea (Kt / v) along with creatinine clearance (Ccr). The target dose in terms of these indices has been much higher than clinically accepted values and is being changed to more realistic levels (Kt / v = 1.7, Ccr = 45 l / week / 1.73 m2). The dose in PD can also be evaluated by employing the Peritoneal Equilibration Test (PET) as well as four commercially available pieces of software provided by PD solution companies.
The dose for PD and hemodialysis (HD) combined treatment may be evaluated by tbe concept of cleared spaces of body fluids, since cleared spaces are additive. The sum of cleared spaces by HD and PD may be a useful tool for comparing two or more treatment modalities.
