[ Summary ] Disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC), venous thromboembolism and arterial thrombosis are lifethreatening diseases. Although thrombosis has been considered relatively uncommon in Japan, its incidence is increasing in association with westernized eating habits. Recommended therapies for DIC are serine proteases (antithrombin, nafamostat mesilate, gabexate mesilate) and heparin / hepariniod compounds. Recomended treatments for thrombosis are anticoagulant therapy and thrombolytic therapy. In cases of severe renal flaiure, reduced dosages are recommended due to decreased excretion.
