| [ Summary ] | The prognosis for acute myocardial infarction in hemodialysis patients is unfavorable. However, percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) has become an important procedure to improve the prognosis. PCI in hemodialysis patients is often problematic, due to calcified coronary lesions. Although debulking procedure with rotational atherectomy is needed for the PCI on occasion, the usefulness of this procedure is still unclear. Coronary lesions in hemodialysis patients, with acute coronary syndrome, include various conditions, so the choosing appropriate strategy for each type of lesion is necessary for favorable PCI in acute phases. Drug-eluting stents may improve the clinical outcome of PCI in hemodialysis patients. | |
