[ Summary ] |
The major cause of death in dialysis patients is cardiovascular disease. Many patients with end-stage renal disease prior to the start of dialysis have cardiovascular diseases ; chronic heart failure, ischemic heart disease, hypertensive cardiomyopathy, cardiac valvular disease, uremic pericarditis and arrhythmia. Cardiac investigations for assessment of cardiovascular diseases have been improved remarkably employing noninvasive techniques. Active and early identification, using these forms of investigation is very important for dialysis patients at high risk of a cardiac event. |
