[ Summary ] A thorough discussion by all the members of dialysis units can lead to the achievment of their goals. Of particular importance is what the doctor, as a leader, has on his or her mind. The basic policy for management of the dialysis unit is based upon the doctor's thinking and their attitude towards medical care for patients and their expectations for other medical staff members.
To achieve this goal, doctors should have a firm identity as the leaders of the entire medical team. Thereby, what he or she is doing will be accepted and their ideas will be thoroughly disseminated among other medical workers, as well as to patients. This can be achieved through “education”, which should be well planned and organized by doctors themselves.
The author is one of the members of a team that is currently at work planning to open an office for a dialysis unit. This article deals with dialysis and related medical education.
