[ Summary ] There are three types of hemodialysis, CAPD (continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis), and kidney transplantation, employed in the care of patients with terminal renal insufficiency. Of those three, kidney transplantation is the only long term cure for terminal renal insufficiency. However, after ten years, the number of transplant patients requiring dialysis increases dramatically.
The failure of kidney transplants results in serious mental deterioration. Many problems must be overcome when it becomes necessary for patients to receive dialysis again, in order to avoid problems with patients' mental condition.
Nursing approachs related to kidney conditions are required. Moreover, understanding patients' mental condition at re-introduction of dialysis after transplantation helps care gives understand maintenance dialysis patient's mental pain.
