[ Summary ] In the ophthalmologic field, functional reconstruction treatment such as corneal transplantation or artificial lens transplantation has been performed for a great deal of time. Recently corneal transplantation has become so advanced that lenticular transplantation at the limbus that supply corneal stem cells is performed as well as penetrating keratoplasty and the lamellar keratoplasty. Moreover, establishment of the concept of neural stem cells has made retinal regeneration realistic. As for the retinal transplantation, the research is still at the stage of basic research such as cell recruitment but it is progressing gradually.
