[ Summary ] There are many systemic diseases accompanying renal damage. Furthermore, there are several diseases such as collagen diseases and related diseases, metabolic diseases, hereditary diseases and arteriosclerosis in the category of diseases associated with eye damage. This has especially been seen to be the case recently with hemodialysis patients, due to diabetic nephropathy increasing in Japan. Therefore, it is predicted that blindness caused by diabetic retinopathy will increase. It is thought that the cooperation of nephrologists and ophthalmologists will become more important for hemodialysis patients with visual impairments.
