[ Summary ] Greater numbers of cancer patients are living extended lives due to advances in the development of anti-cancer drugs and their use in various combinations. Because of patients' increased lifespans, the chronic effects of these drugs have become apparent. One of the routes the drugs take as they are discharged from the body is through the kidneys, which are easily impaired. This impairment greatly affects the QOL of these patients. The frequency of the occurrence of cancers grows with increases in age, while decreased renal functioning is associated with increased age. In our country, where the number of elderly is increasing, renal impairment caused by these drugs is expected to increase. Our discussion is centered on those drugs causing renal impairment such as cisplatin, mitomycin, methotrexate, etc.
