[ Summary ] The prevention of complications for long-term dialysis patients has become an important medical goal. Self care support for complication prevention, should be included in medical management protocols in which multilateral evaluation and strict management are possible and necessary. We think that clinical paths are a useful tool which can help us achieve this goal. For 3 years, we have used conventional clinical paths, for the evaluation of patients and staff members, with a certain degree of positive effect. Patient condition, self care practice, and complication management, have helped us, to evolve clinical paths which have helped us to realize improvements in standardization of the quality of the medical care. Continuing the revision work on clinical paths to provide higher quality medical care we must collect clinical data, provide definitions of convalescence regulation factors, increase efficiency, accuracy and the speed of treatment.
