[ Summary ] Nutritional management on perioperative hemodialysis patients is essential. However, some specific problems, such as increased protein catabolism and limitation of fluid intake for nutrition, are existed. The important points concerning nutritional management on perioperative hemodialysis patients are intake of sufficient calories and adequate amounts of properly balanced proteins. If oral intake or parenteral nutrition dose not provide sufficient energy intake, total parenteral nutrition (TPN) should be preferred even from preoperative stages. To accomplish ideal nutritional management, continuous hemodiafiltration (CHDF) is useful in allowing provision of sufficient fluid space for nutritional management of perioperative hemodialysis patients.
