Theme Nutritional Management of Patients with Renal Failure -- Suitable for Ages and Clinical Conditions
Title Dietary reference intakes for Japanese (2005)
Publish Date 2005/12
Author Satoshi Sasaki Project Leader of “Scientific Evaluation of Dietary Reference Intakes”, National Institute of Health and Nutrition
[ Summary ] The Recommended Dietary Allowance which had heen revised every 5 years has been changed to “Dietary Reference Intakes for Japanese (2005)” in the latest revision. This revision is not merely a change in name, but indicates a great renewal of contents and concepts. It is important for the users to understand its real meaning and how to properly use it. However, because the target population is healthy individuals or populations, we can not use it as a direct guideline for a dietary counseling or dietary administration for dialysis patients. It is recommended to use this guideline as one reference with careful consideration of the patients' condition.
