[ Summary ] Recently, the number of aged hemodialysis patients has been increasing. Usually, their blood vessels are in poor condition and establishment and maintenance of vascular access is difficult. Therefore, a new type of vascular access is needed. We are developing a double-lumen catheter and a no needle vascular access method (K-NOVA). Our double-lumen catheter has two holes and with a sliding action two holes may be opened and closed. K-NOVA has two sliding shutters and, PTA maintenance is always possible. In the near future, self and home dialysis will be realized.
