| [ Summary ] | Early detection of IHD (ischemic heart diseases) is extremely important in diabetic hemodialysis patients, because mortality rates for ACS (acute coronary syndrome) remain high in this group. Coronary artery calcification is common and significantly associated with IHD in diabetic dialysis patients. Additionary, diabetic patients experience accelerated vascular calcification in the predialysis period as well as in the dialysis period. Therefore, screening tests for IHD are important, especially in this period. Recently non-invasive detection and evaluation of coronary arteries has become to possible use multidetector row CTs and coronary MRAs. These new diagnostic tools hold promise in allowing us to detect risky plaques, which are prone to rupture, and also offer the potential to follow disease progression, and possible regression through serial imaging. | |
