[ Summary ] Lowering blood pressure to goal levels, and reducing baseline urinary protein levels are both essential to slow the progression of the renal disease. An integral component of the treatment of patients with chronic renal disease is the administration of an ACE inhibitor and/or ARB. To achieve treatment goals, other drugs, including ACE inhibitors, ARB, diuretics (thiazide, loop), calcium channel blockers, can be added as necessary. The development of hypotensions, acute deterioration of renal function, and hyperkalemia are potential complications.
